About the Prints
Although most of the images in this website are shot traditionally
on transparency film, I have been using digital technology since
2000 to make fine art prints of my images. I use color managed
system from digital capture to finished prints to accurately
represent what I saw in the field. Each image is fine tuned in
Adobe Photoshop for minor color correction, tonal adjustments,
subtle dodging and burning to create a more expressive print.
Finally the prints are made on state-of-the-art EPSON printer
using archival UltraChrome pigment ink. For each of the images
presented in this website, fine art digital prints on various EPSON
papers are available in a number of sizes. If you are interested,
please contact me for a price list.
Expected Life of the Prints:
Even though the early digital prints were plagued by color fading
and other issues, digital printing technology has come a long way
in a very short time. Today, the archival quality of Epson's
UltraChrome pigment ink rivals and often surpasses the quality of
traditional chemical prints. In fact, Boston Museum of Fine Arts
now uses EPSON printers with Ultrachrome ink for reproductions
of works in its collections.
Accelerated light fading tests conducted by Wilhelm Imaging
Research predict a display life of over 60 years before noticeable
fading of these prints using Epson's UltraChrome pigment ink.
These tests are based on standard indoor display conditions of
450 lux of glass-filtered fluorescent light for 12 hours per day. For
further testing details, please visit Wilhelm Imaging Research.
